Marketing Technique - Call to Action

Call to Action is the term given to a sentence or advertisement with the sole purpose of getting the reader to take the next step.

The next step could be to make contact with you via phone or email. Alternatively the next step could be to visit a website which has ample room to explain the proposition in more detail and even make automated sales, orders, bookings and enquiries.

Using a call to action in every form of advertising is very important especially at the end of an ad. Pick up a newspaper and read through a few of the advertisements. It’s surprising how many have no instruction to take the next step which in turn leaves you with no real direction or incentive to do something right away.

The difference in a well constructed call to action can make a noticeable amount of difference in the reaction to the reader.

Don’t forget your business cards or brochures which are the best places for using a call to action. Giving a few business cards to happy customers is a great way to gain good referrals and a call to action on the back will increase the chance of the referral actually following through with the next step.

If you haven’t been using a call to action in your advertising give it a go and see what difference it makes.
